About me (Gem)

I am a mother of 2 boys. Although now all grown up, I will never forget breastfeeding my first son. When he was about 4 weeks, I was really struggling with pain and I remember being overwhelmed at each feed. At the time I was living at home and my lovely mum found a breastfeeding consultant who came over. I cant remember what she said or what she did specifically, but i remember her gentle nature and kindness. After that one consulataion, I was able to successfully feed both my sons for over a year.

I want to give Back

Now my sons are all grown up and more independent I started to research how to become a breastfeeding consultant. I found a course and completed it over 6 months. I have been volunteering at a local tongue tie clinic with a drop in breastfeeding session. I have learnt so much and loved every minute. Seeing mums have a successful latch and feeling happy feeding their baby is pure joy. I remember the feeling and and view it as a privilege to be able to offer support families in this special time.
